
In 2004, the United Way of the Bluegrass launched the Get on Board program to increase diversity on nonprofit boards in Central Kentucky. The class is led by community volunteers who are experts in fields of fundraising, finance, governance, and board service.
Since 2016, the Plantory has led the Get on Board training and the the program continues to be an initiative to strengthen the community through the cultivation of a widely diverse pool of candidates for greater nonprofit governing board effectiveness.

Our next class will begin September 11, 2023 and run until October 30, 2023.. The Application Deadline is July 15, 2023. Get On Board participants will meet weekly, on Monday evenings, from 6 -8 PM, at Base 110. Over the course of the eight-week session, participants will learn about everything that a nonprofit board member needs to know, ranging from fiduciary responsibilities to how to run an effective meeting. Get on Board is free and a complimentary dinner is served at 5:30PM. Parking assistance and bus passes are available.
