Dr. A's Grant Trick bag

Grant Trickbag and Stuff: 5 October

Grant Trickbag and Stuff: 5 October

Gather Hundreds of Your Friends.

Lucky’s Market’s quarterly vote for non-profits to be selected for their community giving program is open through 9 October. If you are not in this program, you can check out the application at:

http://www.luckyscommunityproject.com/apply/

Really Cool News:

Entrepreneur Magazine has listed Lexington in its 10 Best Run Cities in America listing. (Entrepreneur.com) That is a nice thing, but it also might help build local credibility in some national level grant applications.

This is a Funny Book---Or Is It?:

"100 Tricks to Appear Smart In Meetings" by Sarah Cooper. You can see an excerpt on Techcrunch.com.

A Free Management Library and Training Resource.

The Free Management Library ™ is a sort of an odd-ball cross between a training provider and a kind of management wiki in which you can add things that you have found valuable. I have used the site in the past for finding reading references. Their programs and resources are generally free for individuals, although they do some licensing arrangements.

The site currently has a pretty interesting looking program for non-profit management training consisting of 11 self-paced modules ranging from basic legal matter through financial management and to organizational self-audits. It is free for individuals and you can pick and choose whatever you want to dig into. In the individual mode, it is not interactive. Organizations can apply offer the program in a class format.

Two things are worth noting. First, the site uses the term “Free Micro eMBA” but they clearly label this as a service mark. This is not an accredited program in the normal MBA sense. Second, like any wiki style site, you have to be careful with reproducing or distributing materials that people have posted with links. Posting a link is normally not a copyright violation, but the material itself may be copyrighted.

That being said, this is an intriguing site with some really interesting stuff.
